RE: upcoming Florida trip - visiting both Tampa and Orlando

Neither of those parks get great reviews. I would recommend staying closer to Tampa (20 miles further from Orlando than Lakeland).
LazyDays Rally Park (right on I4 in Seffner just east of Tampa) or Hillsborough River State Park in Thonotosassa (also east of Tampa) Both get great reviews. Both are an easy 1+ hour drive to most attractions in Orlando.
Rally Park gets very high marks for it's amenities. It has full hookups. Hillsborough River is a great FL state park campground. It has water and electric only.
We camp at Hillsborough River at least twice a year and can recommend it hightly.

RE: Florida state parks

We didn't have a good experience at Myakka a year ago. The place was not well kept, baths were very dirty.

RE: Hitch Question

Adjusting the head angle is used to increase the resistance on the bars to level out the trailer and ensure appropriate transfer of weight to the front of your Tundra.
Just going by the pictures, your setup looks good.
Enjoy your trip

RE: 03 Tundra Sway Problem

I agree, your hitch is not setup properly. also where do you load all of your stuff front, rear or both. but before anything else get your self a Dual Cam kit this is worlds better than the friction sway bar they gave you. make sure the TT has at least 12% tongue weight. now get the directions for both the WD and DC go to a parking lot and get it setup properly.
Ditto!!! I speak from real life experience. I used to pull my 26' 6000lb trailer with a 2002 Tundra. You can pull the weight fine.
My trailer was all over the place just as you described. I got the Reese DC and made sure the trailer had the right % of tongue weight, and it towed like a dream.
Spend a few $ on the DC and you'll be amazed at the difference.

RE: Question about Hillsborough SP in Florida

I agree. We like loop 1 better than the others. If we can't get into loop 1, we try for sites 10 - 19.

RE: $175/Month For Covered Storage!!!!!

We pay $200/mo for covered with electric, dump station, washing station. We also have restricted access and 24 hr video security.
We can also get uncovered for about $100 per month.
It never made sense to me that someone would pay as much as we do for our RV's just to have them sit out in the elements.
BTW - I also park the car and truck in the garage.

RE: Spree 324bhs

I have the Spree 260RBS. I have been very happy with the quality and value for the $. Go with the LX package as that gets you the fiberglass front, etc. Spree's also come with an enclosed belly and a built in black water flush.
I did a ton of research before purchasing my Spree. I have no regrets.

Agreed. There's a couple reports of the same problem on the Goin-KZ forum. In both cases, KZ stepped up and took care of it.

RE: Black tank care

Are you allowing the tank to refill when you are flushing it (with the flush king)? I have found that allowing the tank to fill during back flushing clears the tank better. Just keep any eye down the toilet when you are flushing, so you don't overfill it.
The other thing I like to do is dump a bag of ice into the tank and drive the frailer around for a while before I empty and flush.

RE: Privacy curtains, hanger

The original privacy curtians in my last trailer were screwed to the ceiling. When I replaced them, I did the same. I don't see why you shouldn't be able to do the same.

RE: Spree Tt's

Congrats on your new Spree. We should be picking up our 08 260RBS this weekend. I did a lot of research on K-Z and the Sprees before pulling the trigger on ours. Everything I have seen and read indicates that the workmanship and customer service is second to none.

RE: Reese vs Equal-i-zer Hitch

I had the dual cam and had to replace it with the equalizer due to clearance issues. It came down to a choice of a lift kit for the trailer or switch to the equalizer.
To tell the truth, I can't tell any difference between to two for sway control. Both do a gret job.

RE: Camping Withdrawls

This is the prime camping season for us folks in Florida. We're heading down for a long weekend at Ft Desoto in a couple weeks.
We go through our camping withdrawls in the summer when it is too hot to go anywhere.

RE: Trailer Tongue Tool Boxes

I installed a pickup truck tool box (the kind that hangs across the bed) on my trailer tongue between the tanks and the front of the trailer. My neighbor and I did it at the same time.
I've also seen trailers with the kind of tool boxes that ride along the side of the pickup bed installed on their tongue. This is a good option is you don't have enough room for a full box.
It works great. I keep all of my hitch stuff, wheel chocks, pads, leveling blocks, etc in it. Very convenient, and keeps all that stuff out of the trailer storage. Weight is not really an issue since everything I put in there would have been in the storage directly behind the tool box anyways.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who has the room on their tongue.
Do a search for truck tool boxes. They come in all kinds of sizes and shapes.

RE: looking for r.v site near tampa

Ditto on Fort Desoto. It's an awsome park.
Ditto... but call them as soon as possible. It is very popular with the locals which makes it hard to get a reservation.

RE: Florida Route 19

I drive from St Pete to the Panhandle numerous times each year. 19 is definitely shorter (distance and time) than going across I10 to 75. Traffic is light on 19 as long as you don't go all the way south to Pasco County (Hudson, Port Richey, etc).
You might want to consider taking 19 to US98, and take US98 to the Suncoast Parkway South (toll road). It will cost you a few bucks, but it will save a lot of time. The parkway continues all the way to Tampa where you can jump on 275 S through St Pete, across the Sunshine Skyway, and then jump on 75 S to Ft Myers.
It sounds confusing, but it is all major highway all the way down.
The only time I would not take this route is if you have any chance of hitting Tampa at rush hour... then again, there's no good way to make it through Tampa during rush hour... :(
Have a good trip.
